Is This the Same Guy an Hour Later?

Last week, Los Angeles-based personal trainer Andrew Dixon let the public behind the curtain of a corner of his own industry: those lose-your-gut-quick ads claiming you can go from “flab to fab” in no time.

Those eye-catching, before-and-after photos? Forget Photoshop, Dixon said. You can get them from camera angles, lighting, grooming, and tanner.

“20/20〃 decided to put Dixon’s tactics to the test, hitting the streets of New York in search of a few good men willing to become studs in less than an hour.

Paul Green, a 37-year-old bartender at the aptly named Gym Bar, volunteered. The styling team from Men’s Fitness magazine – a stylist, a groomer and the photo director – got to work. Would their “manscaping” make him a sexy stud or a “fakeover” dud?

Another candidate was Kurt Walters, a 50-year-old Brooklyn artist. How did he end up looking?

“Remember, he’s 50,” joked ABC News’ nutrition, wellness and lifestyle editor, and Men’s Fitness editor, David Zinczenko.

“It’s kinda crazy,” Walters said. “I’m kinda in shock.”
