This fall, ABC2 supporters had the unique opportunity to learn first-hand about the latest advances in brain tumor research at a series of ABC2 Science Salon events across the country.?

The event in October was held at the Johns Hopkins University - Montgomery County Campus in Rockville, MD and featured a conversation with Dr. Greg Riggins of Johns Hopkins University.? Dr. Riggins shared his research on mebendazole - a fascinating story of a common drug used to treat pinworm that may lead to promising new brain cancer treatment.

The event in November was held at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona and was co-hosted by The Beer For Brains Foundation.? The discussion was led by Dr. Nader Sanai, Director of both the Barrow Brain Tumor Research Center (BBTRC) and Neurosurgical Oncology at Barrow Neurological Institute.? Dr. Sanai shared stories about his pioneering work to save the lives of brain tumor patients, both in the operating room and in the laboratory.

The ABC2Science Salon series is sponsored by Genentech.? We look forward to hosting several more Science Salon events in 2013.
